Job Description

Rapides Regional Medical Center seeks a Respiratory Therapist NICU-Peds to provide specialized respiratory care to critically ill infants and children in our NICU and pediatric units. In this on-site role, you will manage ventilators, deliver respiratory treatments, support resuscitations, and collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide patient-centered care. Responsibilities Deliver comprehensive respiratory care to neonates and pediatric patients in NICU and pediatric units Set up, manage, and monitor invasive and non-invasive ventilators for infants and children Perform assessments, administer treatments, and adjust therapy based on patient response and physician orders Obtain and interpret arterial and capillary blood gases, adjusting respiratory plans accordingly Participate in neonatal and pediatric resuscitations and emergency responses Educate and support families on respiratory equipment and home-care needs when appropriate Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and allied health staff to ensure patient-centered care Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR and ensure compliance with hospital and regulatory standards Follow strict infection prevention and safety protocols in all procedures Contribute to quality improvement and clinical best-practice initiatives within respiratory care Required Skills Neonatal ventilator management Pediatric ventilator management Non-invasive ventilation (CPAP/Bi PAP) Airway management and suctioning Blood gas sampling and analysis Oxygen therapy and aerosol therapy Neonatal and pediatric resuscitation NICU monitoring and documentation Infection control practices Electronic medical record (EMR) documentation
