Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible as a member of the interdisciplinary team to the Respiratory Manager and the attending physician for the administration of respiratory care and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary system deficiencies and abnormalities and will train and act as a resource for respiratory department technicians.
QUALIFICATIONS
Satisfactory completion of a respiratory therapist program from a nationally accredited respiratory therapy school required. Currently licensed in Louisiana as a Respiratory Therapist Ability to assess and respond to the needs of patients and families in varied settings; skilled in respiratory practice, ability to cope with family emotional stress, and tolerance of individual lifestyles. Strong written/verbal communication, organizational and customer service skills a must. Good physical stamina, mental health and personal hygiene habits. Strong attention to detail Good oral, written and organizational skills; computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office software Understands the healthcare philosophy of care and has empathy for the ill, along with their loved ones. Proven experience and ability to work in a team-based environment. Ability to read, follow directions, work independently, and operate mobile documentation device. Exceptional organizational skills, effective time management, ability to multi-task while still paying close attention to detail Ability to take initiative and to see projects through to completion. Ability to work collaboratively and compassionately with other staff in a fast growing, fast paced, and changing work environment. Team player who shares and participates in the vision and goals of ASLH. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
JOB RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to the Respiratory Manager
DUTIES/JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Assesses patients and recommends respiratory therapy treatments. Consult with doctors and other healthcare staff to develop and modify patient treatment plan Plans, prepares, and administers respiratory therapy treatments including IPPB, aerosol, chest physical therapy, incentive spirometry, and sputum inductions in accordance with established policies and procedures. Performs diagnostic pulmonary and cardiac tests including EKGs. Records patient treatment, response, and progress. Inspects, tests, maintains, and operates respiratory therapy equipment. Responds to "code blue" calls and assists by maintaining the patient's airway and performing CPR. Educate patients on how to use equipment and medication Regularly check on patients and equipment Attends department meetings. Pay:
$60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
