What they do

A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS
Job Summary:
Assessment, modification, and delivery of respiratory therapy protocols to meet the needs of patients throughout the hospital.
Education:
Position requires completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program.
Registration/Certification/Licensure:
Current State Respiratory Care Practitioner License, RRT preferred
Experience:
Position requires 0-6 months related experience
Other Requirements:
Maintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and/or any other department requirements. Two or more years of experience in all aspects of cardiopulmonary services preferred. CPR required within 30 days of hire.
