A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Job Description:
The Respiratory Care Student performs non-critical modalities on pediatric through adult patients, which include, but are not limited to, hand-held nebulizer treatments, oxygen therapy set up and arterial punctures. In some instances, may also be responsible for cleaning and stocking of certain equipment and supplies, as directed by staff practitioners and manager. The Intern is under the supervision of the Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) to assure optimal clinical outcomes. Position requires high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with patients, coworkers and others.
Education Qualifications:
Must have successfully completed at least 2 semesters of a JRCRTE-approved program for respiratory care practitioners, or a graduate of this program. If candidate has not yet graduated from the program, must be actively enrolled while employed.
Schedule:
Every other weekend + holiday rotation.
Licensure/Certification Qualifications:
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification or ability to become certified within 1 month from date of hire.
