Job Description

Mercy seeks a skilled Respiratory Therapist to deliver high-quality respiratory care in our patient-centered, Midwest-based facilities. In this role, you will assess patients, manage ventilators and non-invasive ventilation, perform diagnostic testing, and administer therapeutic interventions for acute and chronic respiratory conditions. You will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams, support rapid-response situations, and educate patients and families. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive respiratory assessments and develop evidence-based care plans. Administer and monitor respiratory treatments, including oxygen, nebulizer therapy, and chest physiotherapy. Set up, manage, and troubleshoot ventilators and non-invasive ventilation devices. Interpret arterial blood gases and other diagnostic tests to adjust therapy. Respond to respiratory emergencies and rapid responses, providing airway management and resuscitation support. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to coordinate patient care. Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, equipment use, and home-care strategies. Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR and ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to protocol development. Mentor newer therapists and support ongoing education within the respiratory care team.
