A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Job Description
The Respiratory Therapist provides therapeutic, diagnostic, prophylactic and palliative respiratory care to patients of all ages and in all units or departments of hospital. Respiratory Care is provided under the supervision of a physician Medical Director, Department Manager and Department Supervisor. The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for documentation of all care provided in the medical record, maintaining Respiratory Care equipment and supplies, assisting in orientation of new employees and following all organizational, departmental, and regulatory policies, procedures and guidlelines.
