Job Description
The RCP Student will work under the direct supervision of a licensed Respiratory Therapist and the employing institution will complete and retain all documentation of competency, proficiency, and the ability of the RCP student to perform the approved procedures that they are allowed to do. The RCP Student will work with the Respiratory Therapist learning the proper way to document all care provided to patient in the medical record of the patient. The RCP Student will be trained in the proper way of maintaining Respiratory Care equipment and supplies, and following all organizational, departmental, and regulatory policies, procedures and guidelines.

A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.
