Job Description
Baptist Memorial Health seeks a compassionate Respiratory Therapist to provide high-quality respiratory care across acute and chronic patient populations. In this faith-based, patient-centered setting, you will assess respiratory status, administer treatments, manage ventilators, and respond to emergent situations. You'll collaborate closely with physicians and nurses, educate patients and families, and document care accurately. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive respiratory assessments and implement physician-ordered treatment plans for acute and chronic patients. Administer respiratory therapies including oxygen, aerosol, bronchodilator treatments, chest physiotherapy, and airway management. Monitor, adjust, and troubleshoot ventilators and other respiratory support equipment to ensure safe, effective operation. Respond to respiratory emergencies, including rapid response and code situations, providing airway support and resuscitation. Conduct and interpret respiratory diagnostics such as spirometry and pulse oximetry; document findings in the EMR. Educate patients and families on disease management, equipment use, and home-care instructions in a clear, compassionate manner. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient-centered care plans. Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation, adhering to hospital policies, regulatory standards, and infection control protocols. Precept, mentor, and support students or new respiratory staff, modeling best practices and safety standards. Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and continuing education to advance respiratory care practice.
