What they do

A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

RCP License Full Job Description Overview:
Evaluates, treats and manages patients of all ages with respiratory illnesses and other cardiopulmonary disorders in a wide variety of clinical settings. Performs all respiratory care procedures in addition to patient assessments, treatment efficacy, planning and patient education. Documents in the electronic medical record factual, accurate, complete, timely, and legal information about the care they provide to each patient.

Adult) Basic Life Support Required. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Required.(Neonatal/Peds) Basic Life Support Required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support Required. Neonatal Resuscitation Program Required.
