Job Description
Category Respiratory - Registered Respiratory Therapist Job Type Travel As a Registered Respiratory Therapist, you will play a crucial role in patient care by delivering a variety of respiratory therapy services to support individuals with acute and chronic respiratory conditions. This contract opportunity involves direct patient care, active collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and engaging in specialized procedures.
Key Qualifications:
Active license or certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. Demonstrated clinical expertise in providing respiratory care to diverse patient populations, including adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients. Proficiency in advanced airway management, including tracheostomy care, intubation, and extubation. Experience with arterial cannulation, arterial punctures, and blood gas analysis. Ability to operate and manage various ventilator types and modes. Flexibility to work varying schedules, including potential on-call responsibilities (days, nights, weekends, holidays). Commitment to maintaining current knowledge and skills through ongoing education. Strong communication skills, with the ability to serve as a resource for physicians, staff, and students.Responsibilities:
Administer respiratory treatments such as aerosol medication delivery, oxygen therapy, and bedside pulmonary function testing. Perform airway management techniques, including suctioning, tracheostomy care, and tube changes. Collaborate with Carolina Air Care for transport and provide advanced care per protocols:UAC, UVC, IV
insertion, chest tube and needle decompression, ABGs, glucose monitoring. Manage ECMO for cardiac and respiratory patient support as required. Set up and verify ventilator function using specialized modes, monitor patients, and facilitate weaning processes. Maintain comprehensive documentation of care procedures within the electronic medical record system. Participate in training, in-services, and serve as a charge therapist or mentor as needed.
