Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

1 Description American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Level 1 trauma acute care hospital, requiring at least 1 year of recent Level 1 or Level 2 trauma experience and CRT or RRT certification. Details Acute care setting within a Level 1 trauma hospital Covers all inpatient floors and areas of the hospital, treating patients from neonates to geriatrics Performs EKGs, bedside bronchoscopies, and bedside spirometry Uses ventilators (Drager, Servo I, Carefusion for Heliox and NICU use), BiPAP (Vision, V60, V30, Respironics S/T), and High Flow (Airvo2) equipment UtilizesEPIC EMR
12-hour day shifts on a 7-7 schedule with team scheduling Weekend rotation of every third weekend on days Floats to different areas throughout the hospital in the RT capacity 36 hours per week Requirements Minimum 1 year of experience required, with recent Level 1 or Level 2 trauma experience BLS (AHA) and ACLS certification required CRT or RRT certification required via NBRC NRP and PALS certifications preferred Active state or compact (NLC) license required for the state of submission; license required if applicableEPIC EMR
experience preferred Driver's license copy required for submission Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility Additional Information Work alongside an in-house hospitalist or intensivist available 24/7 A Lead Respiratory Therapist is present on each shift, though travelers will never be the sole RT in-house Holiday coverage rotates with permanent staff Unit orientation consists of three 12-hour shifts Opportunity to work across different levels of patient care each day with strong teamwork among RT, providers, and nursing staff Success in this role benefits from strong time management, flexibility, adaptability, communication, and teamwork skills Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to remove them will result in contract termination Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility Candidates may not have been employed full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-associated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year Up to 7 days of RTO must be requested upfront for the 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved after submissionBenefits
