A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

This is a full-time, onsite position, working Monday through Friday with rotating holidays and on call. Position Summary The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing cardiopulmonary care services in the hospital setting in accordance with physicians' orders and departmental policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities Assessing patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders Administering oxygen therapy and breathing treatments Managing ventilators and life-support equipment Performing diagnostic tests such as pulmonary function testing Assist with pulmonary rehabilitation Sleep scheduling, maintain records and home equipment set up management Monitoring patient progress and adjusting treatments as needed Assisting in emergency care situations involving breathing difficulties Educating patients on managing chronic respiratory conditions Knowledge of adult, pediatric and neonatal pulmonary care Collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
Qualifications Education/Experience:
Associate's degree in applied science or equivalent Graduate of an AMA-approved school of respiratory therapy. Current State Respiratory License Maintain
ACLS, NRP
