A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Per Diem Shift Varies Summary:
The Respiratory Therapist II role provides independent, high quality respiratory care across a variety of clinical settings and patient populations. Independently applies clinical knowledge in most practice settings and can demonstrate clinical reasoning and decision-making. Able to assess patients, develop and adjust respiratory care plans, and manage complex patient needs within established standards and protocols.

Education:
Graduate of a Co-ARC approved school of Respiratory Therapy required.
License/Certifications :
Current applicable state(s) license in Respiratory Care required. RRT certification required. Must have RRT certification to advance to a Level II. Current BLS Certification required within 30 days of start date. Current ACLS, PALS and NRP certifications as required by facility, or must obtain within one year of start date
Experience:
Minimum of one year of Respiratory Therapy experience required.
