A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

What You'll Do:
Provide all standard respiratory care modalities: oxygen, therapeutic aerosols, bronchodilators, mucolytic, nasal tracheal suctioning, chest physio-therapy, incentive spirometry and breathing exercises, as well as ventilator management according to department procedures and standard respiratory therapy practices Assist in cardiopulmonary resuscitation attempts and intubation in accordance with standard protocols Obtain accurate samples for blood gas analysis Respond to Code Blue and Code Blue-pediatric events within the hospital and assist in airway management, ABG's, EKG's and/or assist in cardiac chest compression Schedules daily in-patients and out-patients for ABG's, EKG's, Stress Tests, HHN's, MDI's and CPT's Assist the in-patient or out-patient to better understand their condition, presentation and supportive ways to maintain through patient education Maintain all appropriate equipment and machinery within the Respiratory Therapy/Cardiopulmonary Department, reporting any abnormalities to the Director of Cardiopulmonary Services
What We're Looking For:
Required:
Graduate of American Medical Association approved School of Respiratory Therapy and successful completion of the Registry Examination New grads eligible Respiratory Therapy Licensure Maintain BLS New Hampshire State Board of Registration and Medicine Computer literacy, detail-oriented; works well under pressure
Preferred:
