Job Summary and Qualifications The RRT Extern assists Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRTs) in providing respiratory care to patients under direct supervision. This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a clinical setting while working towards becoming a licensed RRT. The RRT Extern will perform assigned duties and tasks related to respiratory therapy, contributing to the overall care and well-being of patients. Assist RRTs in the delivery of respiratory care treatments and procedures. Monitor patients' respiratory status and report changes to the supervising RRT. Maintain and clean respiratory equipment. Document patient care activities accurately and completely. Participate in educational opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills. Assist with the administration of aerosolized medications. Assist with oxygen therapy delivery and monitoring. Assist with airway clearance techniques. Monitor ventilator settings and patient response under direct supervision. Perform routine equipment maintenance and cleaning. Document patient treatments and observations in the electronic medical record. Assist with patient transport and positioning.

What qualifications you will need:

No prior work experience required. Clinical rotations as part of the Respiratory Therapy program are beneficial. Enrollment in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
