A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Job Overview:
Performs basic/advances therapeutic procedures as outlined under the scope of respiratory patient care service within the section of the policy procedure manual. Transcribes and implements Physician orders. Uses basic oxygen advanced assessment skills and patient information to maintain awareness of patient care needs.
Qualifications:
Required:
Graduate of a National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) School for Respiratory care
Certifications and Licenses Required:
Certfied Respiratory Therapist BLS certification required (American Heart Association). Licensed by New Jersey State Board of Respiratory Care. Successful completion of all orientation programs
