A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Strong orientation program, generous tuition allowance and career development What you will do: Perform diagnostic respiratory tests to diagnose lung disease and disorders.Responsibilities:
Performs diagnostic pulmonary function studies, cardiopulmonary stress tests, FeNO tests, hydrogen breath tests, methacholine challenge testing, arterial blood gasses, and 6MWT. Performs point of care testing with iSTAT and Hemocue devices. Assist with the pretesting of pulmonary rehabilitation patients. Calibrate and maintain equipment for quality and safety. Commit to adherence of established ATS technical and operating standards for pulmonary function testing.What you will need:
A current license to practice as a Registered Respiratory Therapist in the State of New York Current RRT credentials through the National Board of Respiratory Care 1 year experience in a PFT lab with additional RRT-CPFT orRRT-RPFT
credentialing is preferred. Must possess the ability to assess, plan, and evaluate patient care. Must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and written. BLS and ACLS required within 1 year of hire. Flexibility and willingness to float between SPHP locations as needed.Pay Range:
$36.33- $47.
