1 Description American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a 13-week day shift assignment requiring 1+ year of experience and current NY licensure (license required if applicable). Details Rotates between long-term care and acute care settings within the Eastern region hospital network Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 6:30am to 7:00pm Every-other-weekend rotation, totaling 6 weekend shifts per 13-week contract Floating required between Long Term Care and Acute Care settings, and between regional facility locations as determined during scheduling Patient population includes CHF, COPD, pneumonia, respiratory failure, and respiratory infections Performs ABG sampling, ventilator management, patient assessment, medication administration, and pulmonary hygiene Uses Hamilton Vent, Servo-U, NKV330, and V60 equipment On-call requirement: candidates placed on-call in lieu of a call-off will have that shift counted as a call-off Requirements Active RRT certification and BLS required NY state license required in hand prior to consideration (license required if applicable) Minimum 1 year of experience required EPIC charting experience required Personal vehicle required due to rural nature of Eastern region locations Skilled in adult critical care and emergency department settings Proficient in extubation, intubation assist, airway placement, suctioning techniques, and sputum specimen collection Experienced in tracheostomy care and management, including hand-held, T-piece, and trach collar methods Skilled in ventilator management, weaning from mechanical ventilation, and troubleshooting high pressure alarms Experienced with BiPAP, CPAP, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), and bag and mask techniques Long term care experience required Additional Information First-time travelers are accepted for this position Candidates must live more than 75 miles from the facility to be considered for the travel rate Returning staff must wait 6 months system-wide before reapplying Candidates with more than 10 days of requested RTO will not be considered Call-off policy allows 3 shifts per 13-week assignment Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience are preferred but not required
