Respiratory Therapy Position Summary Summary:

Respiratory Therapists perform diagnostic cardiopulmonary evaluations and respiration therapy treatments designed to treat patients with deficiencies and dysfunctions of the cardiopulmonary system. Their responsibilities include assessing, evaluating, diagnosing, and caring for patients with breathing disorders and are responsible for operating and maintaining ventilators/BiPAP. The Respiratory Therapist, working as part of an interdisciplinary team, collaborates, and coordinates patient care with members of other disciplines, including Physician's and Nursing staff.

Qualifications Responsibilities:

Education Required Must complete in-house orientation program Graduate of AMA accredited Therapist program with a minimum 2 year AAS degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent. Experience And Skills Excellent interpersonal skills Speaks, reads and writes English 1 year of clinical experience is preferred. Computer Proficiency. License/Certifications NY State Respiratory Therapist License NBRC certification BLS Working Conditions Other information: Working Conditions Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worn Ability to walk/stand for extended periods of time Ability to lift, bend and carry equipment Ability to push mobile equipment throughout hospital Manual dexterity to operate equipment
