A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or Respiratory Therapist (RT) for a full-time contract position supporting the sleep study program at a local hospital. This is an on-site role performing overnight and rotating shifts to conduct and monitor polysomnographic (sleep) studies for patients with suspected or diagnosed sleep disorders. This is a great opportunity for a credentialed RT looking to grow into sleep medicine, or an experienced RPSGT looking for a stable, full-time contract schedule with a predictable 4/10 shift pattern. Schedule Details Four 10-hour shifts per week (36-40 hours) Weekend coverage on a rotating basis On-site at the hospital's sleep lab/unit Responsibilities Set up, conduct, and monitor overnight polysomnographic (PSG) studies, including CPAP/BiPAP titrations Apply and troubleshoot EEG, EOG, EMG, ECG, and respiratory sensors per AASM standards Score and prepare sleep study data for physician interpretation Respond to patient needs and safety concerns throughout the study Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards Ensure equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and infection-control compliant Communicate effectively with hospital staff, physicians, and patients
Qualifications Required:
Current, active Respiratory Therapist license/credential (RT/RRT/CRT) in good standing Current BLS certification
Preferred:
