A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Job Description

Category Respiratory Therapist Job Type Contract Seeking a skilled healthcare professional to provide exceptional respiratory care within a hospital environment. This is a contract position designed for individuals with proven expertise in respiratory therapy, especially those holding Registered Respiratory Therapist credentials.
Qualifications:
Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification Valid license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist Successful completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program Knowledge of advanced respiratory care techniques and equipment Excellent assessment, communication, and documentation skills Experience in acute care or hospital settings preferred Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to remain calm in emergent situations
Responsibilities:
Deliver comprehensive respiratory care to patients as ordered by medical staff Conduct diagnostic tests, such as pulmonary function testing and arterial blood gas analysis Operate and monitor a variety of respiratory therapy equipment (e.g., ventilators, oxygen delivery devices, nebulizers) Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions and therapies Collaborate closely with nurses, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team Respond promptly to emergency situations and provide appropriate interventions Maintain accurate patient records and up-to-date documentation in accordance with facility standards
