A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

- Cortlandt Manor, NY NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Groups (NYPMG) are part of the physician enterprise of NewYork-Presbyterian, one of the nation's most comprehensive academic health care delivery systems affiliated with two world-renowned medical schools.
Essential Job Duties:
Administers pulmonary function testing, including spirometry, flow volume loops with and without bronchodilator, DLCO, MVV, Maximum Pressure, Body Plethysmography, and Broncho Provocation studies (Methacholine). Administers six minute walk test, Oximetry pulse studies, 02 therapy, Metered-Dose Inhalers and Nebulizer treatment. Educates patients regarding pulmonary medications and use of oxygen. Maintains pulmonary function equipment and associated supplies. Includes proper cleaning and disinfection of equipment per policy. Completes reports for pulmonary function tests and distributes to ordering physicians. May Schedule appointments when necessary. Perform other job duties as assigned. This is a full time Monday-Friday 40-hour workweek. Hours may vary from 8:00am- 4:00pm or 9:00am

Registered Respiratory Therapist by theNational Board of Respiratory Care Required Criteria:
