In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive respiratory therapy services to patients across various clinical settings, including hospital medicine, emergency medicine, intensive care units, neonatal and pediatric units, and outpatient clinics. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in critical care environments, ventilator management, airway management, and emergency response procedures. Duties Perform thorough patient assessments by evaluating vital signs, respiratory function, and physiological parameters to determine appropriate therapy needs. Administer respiratory treatments such as oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and airway clearance techniques with precision and adherence to clinical protocols. Manage and operate advanced respiratory equipment including ventilators, nebulizers, CPAP/BiPAP devices, and other respiratory devices used in acute and chronic care settings. Monitor patient responses during therapy sessions; adjust ventilator settings and other interventions based on real-time data and patient condition. Respond promptly to cardiac arrest emergencies and participate in resuscitation efforts following neonatal resuscitation procedures when necessary. Document all patient interactions accurately in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems while maintaining compliance with hospital policies and medical terminology standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including physicians, nurses, pulmonologists, and therapists—to develop individualized care plans tailored to patient needs across inpatient and outpatient environments. Support the management of complex cases involving neonates, pediatrics, geriatrics, trauma patients at Level I/II trauma centers, and patients with acute or chronic pulmonary conditions. Assist in training staff on new respiratory equipment operation or updates in respiratory therapy protocols. Maintain proficiency in airway management techniques and stay current with advancements in pulmonary physiology knowledge. Qualifications Certification as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) or equivalent credential from a recognized certifying body. Demonstrated experience in hospital medicine with a focus on critical care environments such as ICU or emergency medicine. Proven expertise in ventilator management, airway management, and emergency response procedures including cardiac arrest emergencies. Extensive knowledge of respiratory devices, medical terminology, anatomy related to pulmonary function, and physiology principles. Prior experience working within neonatal resuscitation procedures (NRP), pediatric care settings, or Level I/II trauma centers is highly desirable. Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems such as EMR platforms used for documentation and medical equipment operation. Strong patient assessment skills coupled with excellent communication abilities for effective interdisciplinary collaboration. Ability to perform medication administration related to respiratory treatments safely within scope of practice. Inpatient experience across various hospital departments including ICU units; outpatient clinic experience is advantageous. Critical & intensive care experience with familiarity in acute care protocols for diverse patient populations including geriatrics.
