A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

1 Description American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a 13-week hospital assignment requiring RRT credentials and experience stabilizing and ventilating neonatal patients. Details 13-week hospital-based travel assignment on a 12-hour shift schedule Night shift hours from 6p-6a with varied days Every other weekend required Facility does not have a dedicated NICU but staff stabilize and sometimes ventilate neonates until flight transport arrives 36 hours per week Requirements RRT credentials required Active respiratory therapy license required, no pending licenses accepted ACLS, BLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required (AHA only) ABG license required if applicable Minimum 2 years of recent work experience in a U.S. hospital within respiratory therapy Must live 100+ miles from the facility Additional Information Administer respiratory care under physician prescription, including diagnostic evaluation of the cardiopulmonary system Perform physiological specimen collection and analysis, interpretation of physiologic data, and cardiopulmonary testing and studies Provide management, education, rehabilitation, and care for patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies and abnormalities Apply and monitor medical gases and environmental control systems Provide mechanical ventilatory support and artificial airway care Perform bronchopulmonary hygiene and administer pharmacological agents related to respiratory care procedures Support cardiopulmonary rehabilitation and hemodynamic cardiovascular care Two manager or supervisor references preferred, verifying experience within the last 12 months, with at least one from the most recent employer
