A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Position Summary The Respiratory Care Practitioner 2 at Asante is an Advanced Respiratory Care Practitioner has acquired additional credentialing and competencies as outlined in the Respiratory Critical Care Orientation, Respiratory Care Services Competency Evaluation and Respiratory Care Services' Career Ladder, in one or more of the following: Adult Critical Care, Pediatric Care, Neonatal Care, Pulmonary Function Technology, Team leadership. The RCP-2 may enable the practitioner to perform respiratory care duties in the adult intensive care units, attend to patients in the ER and/or provide pediatric floor care if applicable. Responsibilities may also include management of blood gas labs, as assigned for specific job roles. Qualifications Education Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or respiratory related sciences, preferred Experience Successful applicants should have experience specific to the posted Advanced Practitioner specialty position. Such experience should indicate that the applicant would be able to demonstrate advanced competencies after completion of orientation(s). Licensure/Certifications RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) must be obtained upon start An individual licensed prior to January 1, 2018, who obtained licensure with a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential through the NBRC, is not required to obtain the RRT credential
RT-P:
Respiratory Therapist licensed by Oregon Health Licensing Office (HLO) required upon start
BLS:
Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider certified by American Heart Association (AHA) required upon start For Asante Ashland; PALS, ACLS, and NRP must be obtained within 6 months of start For Asante Three Rivers Medical Center (ATRMC); NRP is required upon start. Preferred Licensure/Certifications at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center (ARRMC)
ACLS:
Advanced Cardiac Life Support certified from
American Heart Association PALS:
