A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Respiratory Reports to: Respiratory Therapy Employer paid benefits; Medical, Dental, and Vision.

$38.08 to Max $63.75

Day/Night Flex•12/36
Definition of Position:
Cares and treats all patients with respiratory cardiac illness.
Responsibilities Essential Job Functions:
Evidence of continuing education is appropriate for the skill level and specific areas of practice. Demonstrates the ability to perform in technical, clerical, and interpersonal aspects. Perform all aspects of care for patients with COPD, asthma, interstitial lung disease. Perform clinical skills to evaluate patients' physical and mental status. Anticipate patient and staff needs. Be able to multitask. Competent and efficient in group class setting. Proficient in monitoring patients on ventilatory support and for any cardiopulmonary symptoms. Ability to communicate effectively, problem solve and be team oriented. Maintains current knowledge of regulatory standards, patient safety goals, and other regulatory requirements to integrate this into system design. The employee supports the hospital mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures. Participates in required education for DNV programs as applicable to position (reference program education curriculum). Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education Required:
Graduate of accredited program in Respiratory Therapy.

Current Oregon RT License, Current RRT.
