Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Job Description

Category Respiratory Therapist Job Type Contract Step into a meaningful role providing critical care as a skilled Respiratory Therapist. This 13-week contract requires expertise in respiratory therapy, particularly with adult patients in high-acuity settings such as intensive care units and emergency departments.
Schedule:
3 x 12-hour day shifts per week
Qualifications:
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT), or eligibility Current BLS certification Ability to perform bronchoscopy procedures Competent in conducting Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs); at least one year of PFT experience required Experience in adult ICUs and emergency departments within a Level 1 trauma environment is essential CPFT or RPFT certification preferred Pediatric experience is a plus
Core Responsibilities:
Deliver comprehensive respiratory therapy to acutely ill patients in ICU and ED settings Conduct and interpret bronchoscopy and pulmonary function tests as needed Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care Respond promptly and effectively in emergency situations, utilizing advanced clinical skills Maintain accurate and detailed documentation in compliance with hospital policies and procedures Support patient education on respiratory care techniques and equipment
