A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. In this contract role, you will support clinical teams and make a direct impact on patients with respiratory conditions, utilizing your knowledge and experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. This position calls for a collaborative professional eager to contribute their expertise in an engaging, fast-paced setting.
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
Current licensure as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program Prior clinical experience in respiratory care, preferably in a hospital or acute care setting Familiarity with a variety of respiratory equipment, such as ventilators and monitoring devices Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
Responsibilities:
Administer therapeutic respiratory treatments and diagnostic evaluations according to physician orders Monitor patient responses and make adjustments to therapy as needed Assist with airway management procedures, including intubation and extubation Educate patients and families about respiratory care and equipment Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans Accurately chart interventions and patient progress in electronic medical records Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain equipment in excellent working condition
