Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented part time or fill time PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) Technician / RT to join our dynamic healthcare team in Hilton Head SC. In this vital role, you will perform specialized pulmonary function tests to assess patients' respiratory health, support diagnosis and treatment plans, and collaborate closely with physicians and respiratory therapists. Your expertise will help ensure accurate testing, thorough patient care, and seamless integration of results into the patient's medical record. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced clinical environment where your skills directly impact patient outcomes. Responsibilities Conduct a variety of pulmonary function tests, including spirometry, lung volume measurements, diffusion capacity, and airway responsiveness assessments. Prepare patients for testing by explaining procedures, ensuring proper technique, and addressing any concerns to optimize test accuracy. Monitor patients during tests, manage ventilator settings if applicable, and ensure safety protocols are followed throughout the testing process. Collaborate with healthcare professionals such as pulmonologists, respiratory therapists, and nurses to interpret test results and integrate findings into patient care plans. Maintain accurate patient records by charting test data in electronic health record (EHR) systems and documenting vital signs, medical history, and test observations thoroughly. Ensure all equipment is calibrated regularly, maintained properly, and used in accordance with hospital policies and safety standards. Stay current with advancements in respiratory devices, physiology knowledge, and hyperbaric medicine to provide the highest quality testing services. Skills Proficiency in airway management techniques, ventilator operation, respiratory therapy procedures, and use of respiratory devices. Excellent patient assessment skills with the ability to evaluate vital signs accurately and recognize signs of distress or abnormal physiology. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy related to the respiratory system, and hyperbaric medicine principles. Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for patient charting and documentation of test results. Ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals across inpatient and outpatient settings including clinics. Basic life support (BLS) certification is required; additional certifications in pulmonary or respiratory therapy are a plus.
