A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

How you'll contribute A Respiratory Therapist (RT) who excels in this role: Measures lung capacity and analyzes blood samples using a blood gas analyzer. Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate. Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices. Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance; participates as a member of the core team and rapid response team by responding to emergency or STAT calls to establish natural and artificial airways, including oral endotracheal intubations or to help or assess with any other respiratory-related issue. What we're looking for Certified Respiratory Care Therapist Valid and Current TN Board of Respiratory Care (BLS) Basic Life Support required one month from hire/transfer date; (ACLS) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support six months from hire/transfer date; (PALS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support six months from hire/transfer date Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
