Job Description
Medical City Healthcare seeks a PRN Respiratory Care Specialist to support patient respiratory needs in a finance and insurance-adjacent healthcare setting. You will perform respiratory assessments, administer therapies, monitor ventilator equipment, and ensure accurate documentation for compliant billing and risk management. Collaborating with physicians, nurses, and case managers, you will help optimize respiratory care plans while upholding safety and regulatory standards. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive respiratory assessments and develop therapy plans under physician direction. Administer respiratory treatments, oxygen therapy, and airway management interventions. Set up, operate, and troubleshoot ventilators and related respiratory equipment. Monitor patient response to therapy, adjusting treatment based on clinical findings and protocols. Obtain and interpret arterial blood gases and other diagnostic respiratory tests. Document all assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the EMR for clinical and billing purposes. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and case management to coordinate safe, effective patient care. Maintain infection control standards and adhere to hospital and regulatory policies. Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, equipment use, and home-care instructions. Participate in emergency response situations requiring respiratory support, such as codes and rapid responses.
