Houston Methodist seeks a Sr Respiratory Care Practitioner to provide advanced respiratory assessment, treatment, and education for diverse patient populations in our acute care and critical care units. In this mission-driven, patient-centered role, you will manage ventilators and non-invasive ventilation, perform ABGs and pulmonary diagnostics, respond to respiratory emergencies, and collaborate closely with physicians and an interprofessional team. You will precept junior staff, support quality and safety initiatives, and contribute to our culture of innovation, continuous learning, and compassionate, high-quality care. Responsibilities Deliver advanced respiratory assessments, therapies, and ventilator management for acute and critical care patients. Administer and monitor oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, and non-invasive ventilation. Perform and interpret ABGs, pulmonary function tests, and related diagnostics per protocols. Respond to respiratory emergencies and rapid response/Code Blue events. Collaborate with physicians and the interprofessional team to develop and adjust care plans. Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, equipment, and home care. Ensure accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record and follow regulatory standards. Precept, mentor, and support junior respiratory staff and students. Participate in quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives. Adhere to infection control, equipment maintenance, and patient safety procedures.
