PRN / Day Shift About the Role Are you an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist looking for a flexible PRN Day Shift opportunity in Corsicana, TX? We are seeking a skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide high-quality diagnostic, therapeutic, and emergency respiratory care. In this role, you will collaborate directly with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to administer treatment plans, manage mechanical ventilation, and perform patient assessments across diverse clinical populations.
Key Responsibilities Direct Patient Care :
Administer advanced respiratory treatments, conduct patient assessments, and monitor physiological responses to ensure effective treatment, rehabilitation, and disease prevention.
Patient Orientation :
Educate and orient patients to treatment modalities prior to procedures to ensure comfort, compliance, and optimal outcomes.
Diagnostic Testing & Procedures :
Perform accurate Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) punctures and report results promptly; conduct pulmonary testing and assist physicians with bedside procedures as assigned.
Ventilator & Airway Management :
Manage ventilator settings, secure airways, and oversee respiratory support to maintain patient safety and comfort.
Protocol & Safety Adherence :
Follow clinical respiratory protocols, implement age-specific care considerations (including oxygen therapy), and maintain strict compliance with infection control, PPE guidelines, and patient identification standards.
Emergency Intervention :
Exercise strong clinical judgment during emergency situations, initiating appropriate interventions to stabilize patients in high-acuity scenarios.
Equipment Maintenance :
Evaluate, clean, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance.
Documentation & Communication :
Maintain accurate, legible, and thorough documentation in EMR systems in compliance with organizational policies. Communicate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, and leadership regarding patient status and care plans.
Compliance :
Execute physician orders accurately, maintain regular and reliable attendance, and follow all organizational standards and regulatory guidelines.
Qualifications & Requirements Certifications & Licenses:
RRT :
Registered Respiratory Therapist credential (Required)
BCLS :
Basic Life Support (Required within 30 days of hire)
ACLS :
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Required)
PALS :
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (Required)
NRP :
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (Required if assigned to NICU)
S.T.A.B.L.E.
: Neonatal Certification (Required if assigned to NICU)
Experience :
1 to 3 years of respiratory care experience in an acute care setting is preferred.
Skills & Core Competencies:
Proficient in administering pharmacological, diagnostic, and therapeutic respiratory care. Strong hands-on skill in ventilator management, patient assessment, and airway maintenance. Competent in utilizing Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems for documentation. Solid working knowledge of regulatory standards, safety protocols, and infection control measures.
