A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Job Description:
Supervises and Coordinates Department operations and activities on a specified shift to ensure quality patient care and optimal operation and efficiency. Responsible for assisting the department Director and Clinical Project Manger in the management of patient care administered by other members of the Respiratory Care staff. Assist in the development and the monitoring of unit-specific systems and in the coordination of activities that improve the quality of patient care for each unit/floor. Supervises and monitors work of all the Respiratory Care Practitioners providing direct patient care. Assists the Director in the evaluation of Associates on a specific shift. Provides professional RC services to patients utilizing components of the Department process, which includes: organizing, planning, directing and evaluating the functions and provisions of the Respiratory Care Services to patients by effective supervision of personnel, use of equipment medical-legal aspects of the patient care, effective communication skills within and between Departments and the close coordination with the Respiratory Care Director, Assistant Director, Medical Director and the Medical Staff and assuring methods of compliance with JCAHO, Medicare, Medicaid conditions of participation and other regulator and practice standards. Provides care to patients of varying ages with age related needRequired Skills:
1. Must have thorough knowledge of all phases of Respiratory Care. 2. Possesses critical thinking and problem solving skills. 3. Effective oral and written communication skills. 4. Ability to foster and facilitate effective working relationships and team building. 5. Willingness to accept and manage change. 6. Skilled in the use of computer systems and related software applications.Required Experience:
A.Work Experience:
One year experience in Clinical Respiratory Care plus one additional year with progressive leadership experience I n all specialty units (Adult ICU, Emergency Service, and Neonatal ICU). B.License/Registration/Certification:
1. Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care. 2.ACLS, PALS, NRP, CPR
certifications . 3. Current Texas Respiratory Care License. C.Education and Training:
Graduate from a school for Respiratory Care.Location:
