Job Description

Methodist Healthcare in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to deliver high quality respiratory care across acute and specialty settings. The RRT will assess, plan, and administer respiratory therapies, manage ventilators, perform diagnostics, and respond to respiratory emergencies in collaboration with physicians and the care team. The role includes educating patients and families, documenting in the EMR, and following evidence based protocols. Responsibilities Assess, plan, and provide respiratory care for patients across acute and specialty settings Administer oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, chest physiotherapy, and related treatments Set up, manage, and troubleshoot invasive and non invasive mechanical ventilation Perform diagnostic tests such as pulmonary function testing and arterial blood gas sampling/analysis Respond to respiratory emergencies and rapid response/Code Blue situations Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and adjust care plans Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, therapies, and equipment use Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record Follow infection control, safety, and regulatory standards and evidence based protocols Participate in quality improvement, continuing education, and competency training activities Required Skills Respiratory assessment and care planning Mechanical ventilation management Non invasive ventilation (Bi
