1 Description American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a night shift position at a Level II Trauma teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of experience. Details 13-week travel assignment on the RRT unit Night shift, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM) 36 or 48 hours per week Every other weekend required, with 2 of the 3 winter holidays covered Adult critical care and Emergency Department settings Utilizes Epic charting system Travelers must float within their scope of practice as needed Requirements Active RRT certification required BLS certification required ACLS certification preferred ACCS certification preferred Minimum 2 years of experience required (4 years preferred) Teaching hospital experience required Trauma Level II experience required Trauma Level I experience preferred Epic EMR experience required VA state license required; license required if applicable, pending license accepted if candidate holds another active state license and can obtain VA temporary license before start date Two professional references required Additional Information Manage ventilator settings including BiPAP, CPAP, SIMV, and IMV, and troubleshoot high pressure alarms Perform airway management including intubation/extubation assistance, suctioning, and tracheostomy care Administer medications via nebulizer, MDI, and other delivery systems Draw and interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) Provide care for patients with ARDS, aspiration, pneumonia, and fresh tracheostomy Perform chest physiotherapy including vest therapy Complete up to 16 non-billable hours of specialty-specific orientation modules recorded in Workday Maximum 40 hours of RTO per 13-week contract, with all RTO disclosed prior to submission No additional RTO approved after offer acceptance Unable to approve RTO around Christmas Disclose any planned vacation time between sign date and start date Previous UVA employees (permanent staff or travelers) must have 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return after reaching this limit BSN preferred
