The University of Vermont Health Network seeks an Ambulatory Respiratory Therapist to provide high-quality respiratory care for pulmonary patients in outpatient settings. Responsibilities include performing patient assessments, administering therapies, conducting pulmonary function tests, drawing and interpreting ABGs, supporting pulmonary rehab, and educating patients and families on disease management and home therapies. You will collaborate closely with pulmonologists, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams in an academic, evidence-based environment that supports professional growth, research, and service to diverse communities in Vermont and northern New York. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive respiratory assessments for ambulatory pulmonary patients Administer respiratory treatments, oxygen therapy, and airway clearance procedures Conduct and interpret pulmonary function tests and related diagnostics Obtain and interpret arterial blood gases per protocol Support pulmonary rehabilitation and chronic disease management programs Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, equipment, and self-care Document care, assessments, and outcomes accurately in the EHRCollaborate with pulmonologists, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams Follow evidence-based protocols, safety standards, and infection control practices Participate in quality improvement, continuing education, and clinical teaching as appropriate Required Skills Pulmonary function testing Arterial blood gas sampling and interpretation Ventilator management (non-invasive) Oxygen therapy and titration Nebulizer and bronchodilator treatments Patient respiratory assessment Pulmonary rehabilitation techniques Electronic health record (EHR) documentation Airway clearance techniques Patient and family education
