The University of Vermont Health Network seeks a Respiratory Therapist I or II to provide evidence-based respiratory care to diverse patient populations. In this role, you will assess, treat, and monitor patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions, manage ventilators and oxygen therapy, perform diagnostic tests, and respond to respiratory emergencies. Working within a collaborative, academic health system, you'll partner with physicians, nurses, and other specialists, support patient and family education, and contribute to quality improvement and research-informed practice in a learning-focused, inclusive environment. Responsibilities Provide respiratory assessments and develop care plans for patients with cardiopulmonary conditions. Set up, manage, and troubleshoot invasive and noninvasive ventilators and oxygen delivery systems. Perform and interpret basic diagnostic procedures such as arterial blood gases and pulmonary function tests. Administer aerosolized medications, bronchodilators, and other respiratory therapies per protocol or provider order. Respond to respiratory emergencies and rapid response calls; assist with airway management and resuscitation. Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record. Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, equipment use, and self-care strategies. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other disciplines to coordinate evidence-based patient care. Follow infection control, safety, and regulatory standards in all respiratory care procedures. Participate in quality improvement, professional development, and clinical education activities.
