A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.
1 Description American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a night shift position at a Level II Trauma Center, requiring at least 1 year of experience and an active Washington RRT license in hand. Details Short term acute care, Level II Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, teaching hospital setting Respiratory/Neuro Diagnostics unit Patient ratio of 1:11 Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM Every other weekend required Block schedule required Floating between units required No on-call required Responds to floor care, ER, code response, and rapid response calls Uses Epic charting system Requirements Active Washington RRT license required in hand at time of submission BLS required, ACLS and PALS preferred Minimum 1 year of experience required Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred Epic charting experience preferred Skilled in medication delivery systems including aerosol setups, MDI, and nebulizers Experience with ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and weaning from mechanical ventilation Experience with ABG interpretation and oxygen therapy Experience with airway management including extubation, suctioning, and tracheostomy care Experience in Emergency Department and Pediatrics settings preferred Trauma and Rapid Response experience preferred License required if applicable Full SSN and DOB required for consideration Minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting required Additional Information First-time travelers considered for this position Candidates must respond to whether they have previously worked at a Providence facility as a permanent employee, traveler, or per-diem staff, including location and dates if applicable Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must live outside 50 miles of the facility Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50 mile radius Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities near the contracted facility RTO requests must be submitted upfront during the offer process, with limited flexibility for post-submission requests Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day) Scrubs of any color accepted for RRT staff No parking fee at the facility
