Job Description

Category Schools - SLP Job Type Contract Make an immediate impact supporting students' communication needs in a school-based, itinerant Speech-Language Pathology role. This contract opportunity is based near Alabaster, AL, and offers the chance to work across three schools to serve a diverse student population. You'll collaborate with teachers, special education teams, and families to foster student growth and success.

Key Qualifications:

Current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP). Valid Alabama Professional Educator SLP Certification. Previous experience in a K-12 school setting and/or with a caseload of 50+ students preferred. Ability to effectively manage an itinerant schedule across multiple locations. Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Proficiency in assessment, development, and implementation of IEPs.

Responsibilities:

Serve approximately 60 students as an itinerant SLP between Shelby County High, Columbiana Middle, and Helena Intermediate. Provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for students with speech, language, and communication disorders. Develop individualized therapy plans and conduct both individual and group sessions. Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and families to support academic and developmental goals. Complete required documentation and IEP paperwork in accordance with school and state standards. Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current with evidence-based practices. This contract role runs from August 4, 2026, to December 19, with a standard 37.5-hour workweek onsite at assigned schools.
