Job Description

OhioHealth is seeking a compassionate Speech Pathologist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will assess, diagnose, and treat patients with speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders across diverse care settings. You'll collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop individualized treatment plans, provide caregiver education, and document progress. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, and swallowing evaluations for adult and/or pediatric patients. Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans tailored to patient needs and goals. Provide direct one-on-one and group therapy across acute care, outpatient, and/or rehabilitation settings. Document evaluations, treatment notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries accurately and timely in the electronic medical record. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, occupational and physical therapists, social workers, and care managers to coordinate interdisciplinary care. Educate patients, families, and caregivers on communication and swallowing strategies, home exercise programs, and safety recommendations. Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, team meetings, and care conferences to support safe discharge and continuity of care. Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, clinical protocols, and best-practice development within the speech pathology service line. Maintain compliance with regulatory, licensure, and professional standards, including HIPAA and infection prevention practices. Engage in ongoing professional development, continuing education, and mentoring activities in alignment with Ohio Health's learning culture. Required Skills Speech and language assessment and diagnosis Evidence-based speech, language, and swallowing therapy Dysphagia management and instrumental assessment interpretation (e.g., FEES, VFSS) Cognitive-communication rehabilitation Voice and resonance therapy techniques Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) familiarity Care planning and goal setting in medical/rehab settings Interdisciplinary team collaboration and communication Clinical documentation in electronic medical records (e.g., Epic) Patient and family education and counseling Time management and caseload prioritization Cultural competency and trauma-informed care Quality improvement and outcomes tracking
