Job Description
The responsibilities of a school-based speech-language pathologist include, but are not limited to, compliance with the policies and procedures set forth by the Benton School District, the Arkansas Department of Education/Special Education Units Procedural Safeguards and Program Procedures for the Provision of Special Education and Related Services, and the Federal mandates of the Individuals with Disability Education Act (IDEA). The district employed Speech Pathologist must maintain state (ABESPA) and national certifications (ASHA).
Special Education Teachers must:
Conduct screenings and diagnostic evaluations. Provide therapeutic services for children with a wide-range of disabilities. Be able to develop Individualized Education Plans (IEP) that incorporate and modify specific, individualized supports, services, and strategies in order to provide meaningful educational benefits for students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment. Have an understanding of Common Core Standards and individualized assessments. Serve as a resource for school personnel in the general education setting. Maintain Due Process files and student records. Provide services on an individual, small group, or classroom basis to school-age children with disabilities. Work on listening, speaking, reading, writing, and learning strategies in general and special education settings. Be knowledgeable about assistive technology. Schedule and attend conferences. Invite and encourage parental participation in the IEP process. Collaborate with and train other professionals and parents to facilitate students' academic, communication and social skills in an educational environment. Serve on school and district teams and committees. Supervise support personnel in public schools (SLP-A) Supervise clinical practicum and clinical fellowships. Maintain Medicaid documentation as required by the district.Similar remote jobs
