190 The Speech Therapist is directly supervised and evaluated by the Related Services Supervisor.
Qualifications of Employment:
Master's Degree in Communicative Disorders Arkansas state license to practice speech therapy Provisional License to complete Clinical Fellowship Year or Certificate of Clinical Competence from American Speech Language Hearing Association Arkansas Teaching License in
Speech Language Pathology Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Screen, evaluate, and provide therapeutic services to students with communicative disabilities in Pre-K, elementary, middle, junior high, and/or the high school setting. Collaborate with staff to ensure team understanding of student speech performance strengths and needs, as well as student outcomes. Evaluate the student's ability and formulate the student's speech profile, providing written reports that reflect strengths and barriers to student participation in the educational environment and guides evidence-based intervention. Participate in the development of Individualized Education Programs. Assess the need for assistive technology and equipment and make recommendations for its use at school to help students function as independently as possible. Document speech therapy services, and maintains records in accordance with school district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations. ( ex. Medicaid Billing notes, therapy log, due process) Continue to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings. Provide continuing education to administration, staff, and parents in regards to communication disorders and development. Other duties as assigned.
