A Speech Language Pathologist diagnoses and treats speech, language, and swallowing disorders in patients with a variety of conditions. Helps patients improve their ability to make sounds or use language, or develop non-spoken means of communication. May specialize in working with patients of a certain age group, or treat speech problems resulting from a condition such as a stroke or cleft palate. Works in schools, hospitals and other healthcare facilities and works closely with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other therapists.

Job Description

Assists in the overall provision of services for Speech and Language as directed by the supervisor of the program. The Speech/Language Pathology Assistant complements the Special Education Department's Speech and Language Division in the performance of duties. Position Details

REQUIRED

Master's degree in Speech/Language Pathology with a valid Arizona Speech-Language Pathologist certificate or Bachelor's degree in Speech/Language Pathology with a valid Arizona Speech-Language Technician certificate Ability to obtain licensure from the Health Department; either Speech Pathology License, Temporary Speech Pathology License or Limited Speech Pathology License High level of expertise with diagnostic procedures Thorough knowledge of current remediation methods and materials Full job description here.
