A Speech Language Pathologist diagnoses and treats speech, language, and swallowing disorders in patients with a variety of conditions. Helps patients improve their ability to make sounds or use language, or develop non-spoken means of communication. May specialize in working with patients of a certain age group, or treat speech problems resulting from a condition such as a stroke or cleft palate. Works in schools, hospitals and other healthcare facilities and works closely with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other therapists.

Innovation, Equity, Caring, Inclusion, Collaboration Job Summary Novato Unified School District is excited to find a part-time School Speech Language Pathologist to support our Special Education Department. The ideal applicant would come to us with an intern, preliminary or clear California Clinical or Rehabilitative Services Credential in Language, Speech and Hearing. Novato is a suburb located in north Marin County, with a population of approximately 53,000. We are a close-knit community, with a number of our population being lifelong citizens. Many of our NUSD parents attended Novato schools themselves. Our community is known for its more than 3,600 acres of open space, which include a number of popular hiking and biking trails. Novato Unified's mission is to engage, inspire and empower all students, in a rapidly changing world, to realize their life goals. Our vision is to provide an innovative and personalized learning experience for every student in a caring and supportive environment to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful and productive citizens. We engage parents, teachers, and our community to actively support our students' growth and learning. We currently are home to 15 schools, with enrollment of approximately 7,400 students. Our 800 employees including certificated, classified and administrative staff are at the heart of our district. Novato Unified School District (NUSD) has approximately 800 staff members who, along with the larger school community, are responsible for the education of 7,400 students. We have eight elementary schools, including one dual-language immersion, one TK-8 school, two middle schools, and two comprehensive high schools. NUSD also has an Alternative Education Center housing a continuation school and an independent study student program serving grades K-12. All schools within Novato Requirements / Qualifications Comments and Other Information New NUSD certificated staff may transfer in up to 15 years' experience, allowing for placement on Step 16 - teaching experience subject to verification of employment. At NUSD Bilingual Spanish Authorization holders earn an annual stipend of $1,000, prorated for length of assignment. At NUSD All Special Education Teachers earn an additional $1,500 per year, prorated for length of assignment. At NUSD School Psychologists and Speech Language Pathologists earn an additional $1,000 annually. Novato Unified is only accepting applications on EdJoin.
