Essential Functions The position characteristics reflect the most important duties, responsibilities and competencies considered necessary to perform the essential functions of the job in a fully competent manner. Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit-based safety and infection control requirements. Plan, coordinate, and supervise staff and services provided. Evaluate and optimize effectiveness of team members and progression towards desired outcomes. Conduct employee recruitment and retention activities, performance appraisals, and coaching/counseling. Ensure adequate staffing and utilizes appropriate resources to improve business practices. Participates in program planning and development including budgetary planning. Assures compliance with regulatory requirements. Direct Patient Care. Monitors operating and budgetary performance (FTEs, timecards, use of per-diems). Sets standards of performance, directs and motivates staff toward their achievement. May act as Interim Rehab Coordinator with the following duties (Rehabilitation Services Only): Clinical rounding with Medical Director on patients referred to the Acute Rehab Unit and appropriate clinical decision making in consultation with Medical Director for admission decisions impacting the Acute Rehab Unit Completion of the Pre-Admission Screening on Acute Rehab Admissions Attend Interdisciplinary Conferences and facilitate the coordination of patient care Completes all IRF-PAI assessments including: Admission FIM and Quality Indicators Discharge FIM and Quality Indicators Reporting Therapy Minutes Assists in reviewing and revising department policies and procedures and/or developing new department policies and procedures. Manages and lead discipline-specific staff meetings. Collaborates with other rehabilitation department leadership to map out processes for performance workflow improvement.
