Performs speech therapy evaluations of patients and interprets findings. Plans and implements therapeutic treatment for patients; establishes appropriate treatment goals; uses equipment properly. Coordinates treatment programs with physicians, nurses, professional and para-professional staff. Maintains accurate records and prepares written reports. Attends staff meetings and patient conferences; participates in in-service and staff development classes.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Graduation from an approved college or university with a master's degree in communicative disorders (speech therapy).Special Requirement:
Within 60 days of hire, must file applications for: 1) a Clinical Fellowship Year from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association; and 2) the Required Professional Experience to qualify for licensure with the California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers' Board.KNOWLEDGE
Current principles, methods, techniques, equipment and materials used in speech therapy, possible reactions of and hazards to patients during treatment, and of precautionary and remedial measure; anatomy and physiology related to treatment; psychological and physiological problems of persons with disabling conditions. ABILITY Organize and implement speech therapy treatment programs; conduct individual and group treatment programs; interpret and adapt physician's orders and/or written reports; communicate effectively; work independently; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with patients, families, staff and others; maintain excellent customer relations. Part-Time Employee Benefits:
