JOB GOAL

The primary goal of the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) position is to maximize student achievement by providing comprehensive speech and language services. This includes conducting screenings, assessments, direct therapy services, and offering expert consultation for students with identified educational needs and corresponding Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in the area of speech or language.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

1.

Assessment and Evaluation:

Conduct thorough screenings, monitoring, assessments, and evaluation procedures for students in accordance with established state and federal guidelines. Ensure timely and accurate submission of all related documentation. 2.

Therapy Services:

Utilize current, evidence-based practices to provide direct therapy services and develop prescriptive programming for students as outlined in their IEPs. 3.

Collaborative Team Participation:

Actively participate as a core member of building-level Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)/Response to Intervention (RtI) and/or child study teams. Foster strong collaboration and consultation with general education teachers, specialty teachers, and other related service providers to address the diverse needs of all students. 4.

IEP Coordination and Development:

Serve as a contributing member of the IEP team, coordinating or facilitating meetings as appropriate. Develop and write measurable goals and objectives for students who qualify for special education and speech/language services. 5.

Data Management and Compliance:

Maintain detailed records and data collection necessary for placement decisions and ongoing programming effectiveness. Efficiently utilize the available computerized IEP and records management system to ensure compliance. 6.

Professional Development and Licensure:

Staff and Parents:

Provide training, coaching, and consultation to school staff, parents, and caregivers to support the generalization of communication skills across environments and facilitate their participation in the therapeutic process. 8.

Curriculum and Program Support:

Collaborate with teachers and administrators to adapt curriculum and instructional materials to promote language and communication development within the general education setting. 9.

Supervision and Mentorship:

Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs), graduate students, or clinical fellows, as assigned and appropriate, ensuring adherence to ethical and professional standards. 10.

Other Duties:

Perform other related duties as assigned by the Special Education Director, Executive Director, or Speech-Language Department Chair.
