The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting pathologists by preparing and examining tissue samples, assisting in the diagnosis of diseases, and ensuring the efficient operation of the pathology laboratory. This position requires a strong foundation in anatomy and physiology, as well as familiarity with medical terminology. The Pathology Assistant will work closely with medical professionals and may also interact with patients and their families. Responsibilities Assist pathologists in the preparation and examination of tissue specimens. Perform gross examinations of surgical specimens, documenting findings accurately. Maintain accurate records of all specimens processed in the laboratory. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain a clean working environment. Collaborate with laboratory staff to optimize workflow and improve processes. Provide support in the training of new staff or interns as needed. Stay updated on advancements in pathology practices and techniques. Experience Candidates should possess the following skills and experience: Knowledge of anatomy and physiology is essential for understanding specimen characteristics. Familiarity with medical terminology to communicate effectively within the healthcare setting. Experience working with children or in pediatric settings is a plus, particularly knowledge of Individualized Education Programs (IEP) and early intervention strategies. Background in acute care environments or schools can be beneficial for understanding patient needs. Previous experience working with students or children is highly desirable.
