Job Description
Encompass Health seeks a compassionate Speech Pathologist to deliver specialized speech-language and swallowing services in our inpatient rehabilitation setting. In this role, you will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with communication, cognitive-linguistic, and dysphagia disorders, developing evidence-based, individualized care plans. You will collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary rehab team to support patient-centric recovery, educate families, and document outcomes. Responsibilities Evaluate and diagnose speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, and swallowing disorders in adult rehab patients Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans Provide direct therapy to improve communication, cognition, and safe swallowing Conduct dysphagia assessments, including bedside evaluations and instrumental studies where applicable Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and rehab therapists on coordinated patient care Educate patients and families on communication strategies and swallowing safety Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and outcome tracking Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and care conferences Contribute to discharge planning and home program recommendations Adhere to regulatory standards, ethical guidelines, and facility policies Required Skills Speech-language assessment Dysphagia evaluation and treatment Cognitive-linguistic rehabilitation Treatment planning and goal setting Clinical documentation in EMR systems Interdisciplinary team collaboration Patient and family education Use of standardized assessment tools Rehab outcome measurement Knowledge of rehab and healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, CMS)
